Good Morning

Another hit from the Rogue Wave bug.

Rogue Wave - Good Morning from Rogue Wave on Vimeo.

I love this music video. I wish I could romp around some barren wasteland with feathers in my hair. Can I? Oh please can I?

Solitary Gun

Rogue Wave - Solitary Gun from Rogue Wave on Vimeo.

I know I've been raving for years about how much I love Rogue Wave, so don't read on if you are sick of it because there's a whole lot more about to spew out.

Their new album 'Permalight' is sincerely awesome. I love every second of every song. Their last album 'Asleep at Heaven's Gate' was a bit of a dud in my opinion. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, it just wasn't what I was looking for in a Rogue Wave album. I love all of the color and depth that 'Permalight' has. There are a lot of pertinent issues that the band deals with in these songs and that's one aspect that keeps me coming back for more. I'm listening to this almost as obsessively as I listened to 'Descended Like Vultures' back in the day (and sometimes nowadays). But let's not forget the early stuff either. 'Out of the Shadow' was a great one too. There's more of a playfulness to this early album than the rest, therefore it's good in my book. But for some reason I just can't put my finger on, it doesn't have the same oompf, or pizazz, or whatever it is that 'Descended Like Vultures' and 'Permalight' do.

Nope, there's no getting around it. I absolutely adore Rogue Wave. I doubt very much that will ever change.

However, Zac recently turned me onto Freelance Whales. They're pretty awesome as well. And not only is the music that they make incredible, their website is amazing on top of that. They're almost on par with Rogue Wave in my book, and that's saying something. I really like the song 'Hannah'.

Here's a little taste of who they are...

And of course 'Mary Poppins'

Not only is the imagery amazing, the music is great. I love it.

A Nice Little Holiday

Another visit from a friend from home. Allison, someone I used to work with back at Telefund, came to visit me as my last visitor. I probably did the best showing her around town and Ireland of all the visits (even my parents). It probably has something to do with the fact that I had a lot of practice with Jamie and then my parents. She got in on a Saturday, left on the next Friday and we did enough things to fit into three weeks. We did all the typical things like the Guinness Storehouse, the Hop On Hop Off bus tour around the city, and ate fish and chips with a bit of Guinness on the side. Duh, things you HAVE to do if you come to Dublin.

In addition to those fun adventures we took a trip out west. We booked a hostel for one night in Galway City and took a day trip to the Aran Islands. For how many times I've been to Galway, I never stayed over night. So it was fun and new for me as well as Allison. We went for a walk around the city when we first got there and then at night we went out to a local pub that had traditional Irish music. Galway, and the west for that matter, is known for the music. The weather was in our favor as well, surprisingly enough. That never happens on the west coast because you're right on the Atlantic so the winds bring bad weather quickly, but just as quickly take them away again. We saw a few rainbows (no leprechauns or pots of gold though). On our second day there we took the ferry out to Inis Mór which is the largest of the Aran Islands. Again this was something that I had never done so it was new for both me and Allison. We were only there for a few hours and did a short little bus tour and a bit of a hike up to see an old stone fort. It was excellent weather again and we had a great time. I can't even explain how pretty it was, but I do have some photos (obviously).

The River Corrib.

Allison walking down Quay Street.

Allison jumping under the Spanish Arch.

Me jumping in Eyre Square.

A fun shop front.

Allison and I in front of the River Corrib.

The name of the stone for that we hiked up to on Inis Mór.

Me and Allison in front of the fort.

The cliffs on the Island.

I laid down on the edge of the cliff and looked down. This is what I saw.

I'm so glad Allison was able to visit. I think she had a great time, I know I did.

Just a Little Taste

There's a couple of songs that are played constantly at all of the night clubs here in Ireland. Some are getting on my nerves, some make me want to dance... hah, me, dancing, hah. Here are just a few:

Infinity 2008 -Guru Josh Project (This is one that makes me want to dance. The music video is a bit weird though, and I like the original version of the song better, but this is all I could find)

Poker Face -Lady Gaga (This is one that's getting on my nerves)

I Kissed A Girl -Katy Perry (Nerves again)

Sex on Fire -Kings of Leon (I think I would get jumped in a dark alley if I said that Kings of Leon are 'ok' but this song doesn't get on my nerves, I just don't like it that much)

They also tend to play a lot of MGMT which I'm not complaining about either. Kids seems to be the DJs' favorite song too.

MGMT

'Kids' by MGMT is my new favorite song, and I don't know why.

'Electric Feel' is good as well.

I Like the Randoms

So, I'm officially bored. Out of my mind. Doing a bit of sewing to keep my mind off the fact that I have nothing to do anymore, but obviously that's not working. It's been weird since school ended. I mean, it ended so abruptly. All of a sudden, everything in my life changed. And all the people in it. Friends are leaving, but I'm staying here. It's odd. Whatever, because of this boredom I've been finding random things on the interweb. Here are some of my discoveries.

Apparently, according to Urban Dictionary, a 'pfeiff' is a 'girl who is similar to a hermit crab'. Ok, what does that mean? I don't get it.

I do like this one though.

'pewpew'
-a noise that laser beams makes
(notice the grammatical error. Even with the error though it's still funny)

This is intense, how do people think up stuff to do like this?!

You have to admit though, this is kind of awesome.

Now I know this one's kind of a throw back but I still love it. And boy am I not coordinated enough to even try a stunt like this.

Ok yet another thing that I am just not coordinated enough to do.

This one's pretty amazing. And creative.

This movie looks beautiful, anyone want to go see it with me?

It looks like how my dreams are. Finally, someone who sees into my head.

On Saturday Meg and I are going to see these guys play. I'm really excited. If you haven't seen 'Once', it's definitely one of my recommendations. And not just because I love the land of Ire, which is where the movie is set, but because it's an amazingly inspirational story. Just go see it.

I think I may have over done this one a bit, but like I said, I'm bored. Give me something to do, please.

PUHLEASE!

Yael Naim

This is my new favorite video. It reminds me of summer, and all of the fun random things that happen in the summer.

She kind of reminds me of Feist, especially with the freeness of her video.

Only Rogue Wave

There isn't too much music out there that I feel like I can just close my eyes and take it in. I'm just not that kind of person. But, Rogue Wave does it to me. I get my kicks from 'em. I can't really explain it.

http://www.roguewavemusic.com/music/player/id/3

Go there and try it. Close your eyes, take a minute out of your busy schedule to relax a bit and listen to the music. It just gets you.

I Feel it All

I love Feist. I also think this is the best song on her album.

She's so playful, and her videos tend to be just one shot, which makes me like them even more. You can tell she's always having fun with them.

I also love this one.

Yay colors. Yay one shot. Yay Feist.

I'm tired. I don't want to paint. Tell me I'm done.

Mos Def Big Band

is my new favorite thing. Chelsea and I just went to see Mos Def Big Band at Hill. It was incredible. The bassist and drummer were phenomenal, and I never use that word. When we got there I really didn't know what to expect because I just said I would go with Chelsea since she loves Mos Def. I thought it would be fun, and if not, an experience. When the first beat started, I knew it was going to be good. In the beginning, I was just appreciating the music for what it was, everyone in the band was amazing, and the energy Mos Def had was amazing. Then I started to notice my head bobbing along with the beat, and then my toe tapping, then I just started to feel it through my body. I couldn't help but move along with the music. Not all music does this, but I love it when it does. I had such a great time. I suggest everyone find the music that makes you move, and makes you smile, it's amazing when you do.

LOVED IT!
